Man Armed With Replica Guns In Downtown Vancouver Shooting

Vancouver Police have released new information about the officer involved shooting that killed 29-year-old Michael Pierce. It happened February 28 near West 12th Street and Jefferson Street.

Multiple citizens called 911 to report a male in the street pointing handguns at passing vehicles and pedestrians.

Vancouver Police responded and located the armed suspect who brandished two pistols at police. The suspect refused police officer commands and pointed a pistol at officers multiple times. Two responding Vancouver Police officers discharged their weapons, shooting Pierce who despite receiving prompt medical aid, did not survive.

The Regional Major Crimes Team, led by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, is conducting the investigation into the officer involved shooting. Investigators from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office have determined the suspect was armed with two black and chrome replica pistols.

The investigation is ongoing and any witnesses, who have not been contacted by detectives, are asked to call the Clark County Sheriff’s Office Tip Line, (360) 397-2120, and provide contact information.

Once the investigation is completed it will be forwarded to the Clark County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review.
