The Governor Victor Atiyeh Leadership in Education Awards give us an opportunity to continue the conversation on education, celebrate those making a positive impact, and find inspiration to serve as leaders of change. The topic of civics education will take center stage this year as the event honors Marilyn Cover, the founder and newly retired executive director of the nonprofit organization Classroom Law Project. Ms. Cover, who has dedicated her life and career to expanding civics education in Oregon, and beyond, will share the stage with Justin Driver, speaker, constitutional law professor, and author of the book The Schoolhouse Gate.
Concordia University’s 8th Annual event, benefiting student scholarships and 3 to PhD®, will inform and inspire attendees about the role of civics education in preparing the next generation of engaged citizens.
