Hoax Bomb Threats Received in Oregon

Schools, businesses and government agencies across the country received emailed bomb threats. Several of the reports were received in Oregon and Washington.

The Portland Bureau Of Emergency Communications received numerous reports of bomb threats to Portland businesses. The nature of the threats included a demand for payment or an explosive device would be detonated as employees left work.

The Portland Police Bureau is coordinating with the Federal Bureau of Investigation Portland Joint Terrorism Task Force on this investigation. At this time, there is nothing to indicate that the bomb threats are credible or that there is an immediate danger to the community.

The Portland Police Bureau is aware that similar threats were reported to other Portland Metro dispatch centers as well as dispatch centers across the United States.

Anyone receiving a bomb threat is encouraged to remain calm and immediately call 9-1-1 to report all available information.

The Portland Police Bureau encourages community members to review Department of Homeland Security (DHS) information "What To Do -- Bomb Threat" available online at: https://www.dhs.gov/what-to-do-bomb-threat
