Train Derails In Salem

Tuesday around 8:45 p.m. a train carrying logs that was travelling through Salem derailed. The cars remained upright.

Initially, the train blocked several streets between Front Street Northeast and Hood Street. Crews decoupled the cars that didn't derail and removed most of the train.  That helped to eliminate most of the closures.

The logs were removed from cars on Wednesday.

Investigators are working to learn what caused the derailment. They're also inspecting the track for damage.

No one was injured when the cars derailed.
