An officer involved shooting investigation is underway in Clark County after a deputy fired at the driver of a stolen car.
At 4:40 a.m., Clark County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a report of a stolen vehicle that just occurred in the Orchards area.
Responding deputies located the stolen vehicle in the area of NE 109th Avenue and NE 71st Street. The driver was the only person in the vehicle.
The suspect rammed the deputy and an officer fired at the vehicle.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The deputy was taken to a hospital with minor injuries and has since been released.
The Clark County Regional Major Crimes Unit is investigating the incident. The deputy was placed on Critical Incident leave per protocol.
The name of the deputy and the suspect have not been released.
The area of NE 109th Avenue and NE 71st Street will be closed during the investigation.
