Grotto’s Festival Of Lights Opens Friday

The Grotto has added a 150-foot living Christmas tree to its Festival of Lights celebration.  The tree is located at the entrance to The Grotto at NE 85th and Sandy Blvd.

The 31st Annual Christmas Festival of Lights opens Friday, Nov. 23. The blessing of the tree will occur at 4:45 p.m. with the gates to the Festival opening at 5 p.m.

About the Festival

Known as the world’s largest Christmas choral festival, the Portland tradition will host over 200 choirs and ensembles this year.

Festival guests can stroll the scenic paths through 1.5 million lights. Other popular features include caroling, a petting zoo, and a puppet show.

Holiday food and beverages, including the popular hot cocoa, are available for purchase.

The Festival runs nightly from 5-9:30 p.m. (grounds close at 10 p.m.) through Dec. 30, except Christmas Day.
