PSU Set To Hold Hearings On Campus Safety Policies

portland state university

Margolis Healy, an independent security consulting firm Portland State hired to review campus safety policies and procedures, will be holding nine listening forums on campus from Oct. 30 to Nov. 1. PSU encourages students, faculty, staff and community members to attend one of the 90-minute forums and provide feedback to the consultant.

Margolis Healy wants input from across campus as they begin their review of security policies and procedures such as Campus Public Safety Office staffing and resources, officer training, PSU's relationship with local law enforcement and what may have changed over time since PSU’s Board of Trustees approved a sworn, armed police force in December 2014. The review will study all options to protect the campus and make recommendations to President Rahmat Shoureshi and the PSU Board of Trustees.

All listening forums will take place at PSU's Academic and Student Recreation Center Room 515. There will be an online survey available this week for those who can not attend the forums but would like to provide feedback.
