Burn Pile Causes Brush Fire

The dry conditions this Fall are making it dangerous to burn debris piles.

Several area Fire Departments have responded to burn piles getting out of control.

The most recent incident happened on Friday near Canby.

When Canby firefighters arrived a brush fire that started from a burn pile had spread to half an acre.

Crews from Canby Fire, Aurora Fire, Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue and Clackamas Fire were able to control the grass fire before it caused damage to the home or out buildings.

Backyard burning is still closed in many areas.

Check with your local Fire Department for regulations.

When burning debris you need to have a water source nearby to stop the fire from spreading.
