Firefighters battled a large two-alarm commercial fire in NW Wednesday morning.

The fire started in a pile of recycled wood at Greenway Recycling on Northwest St. Helens Road.

Lt. Rich Tyler with Portland Fire & Rescue, says the fire was right up against the east side of Forest Park and they wanted to make sure that no embers got into the park and started a wildland fire.

Firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading into Forest Park or any other nearby structures.

Even after the fire was out, smoke could still be seen in the Northwest part of the city.

No one was injured in the fire.

The cause remains under investigation.
