A woman was found dead in a Tigard duplex fire Thursday morning.
The duplex is located near 91st and Hall Boulevard.
When Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue crews were dispatched they saw a column of smoke coming from the area where the fire was reported.
The duplex was heavily involved with fire when they arrived.
A man who was inside was able to escape, but firefighters found a woman deceased inside of the unit.
The Oregon State Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
The man was sent to a hospital for an evaluation. They were brother and sister.
Firefighters say they didn’t hear smoke alarms sounding, which might indicate smoke detectors weren’t working.
Investigators are working to determine how the fire started.
