I-5 / I-84 Ramp Closures Coming

Two ramps at the Interstate 5 interchange with Interstate 84 will be closed through the weekend of Sept. 21-24 as rehabilitation work continues.

Both will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday Sept. 21 until 5 a.m. Monday Sept. 24.

The ramps are:

  • The ramp from westbound I-84 to northbound I-5
  • The ramp from southbound I-5 to eastbound I-84.

The schedule is subject to change depending on the weather.

The ramps in this busy interchange will continue to see weeknight closures into October and November.

Two on-ramps to westbound I-84 will be closed during these full weekend closures but will remain open during the night closures. They are the Northeast 33rd Avenue on-ramp and the Northeast Sandy Boulevard on-ramp.

The ramp from southbound I-5 to eastbound I-84 will see two additional full weekend closures

  • 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28 until 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1
  • 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12 until 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15.

When complete, this work will finish the reconstruction that started this summer on these critical ramps where I-5 and I-84 meet, the busiest interchange in the state. The work is necessary to keep these ramps healthy and to ensure this part of the regional transportation system continues to function safely in the decades to come.
