29,000 Child Porn Files Found On Phone

24-year-old Nicholas James Stacy, of Clackamas, Oregon, made an initial appearance Wednesday in federal court before U.S. Magistrate Judge Stacie F. Beckerman. He was ordered detained pending trial.

The court unsealed a criminal complaint alleging Stacy possessed in excess of 9,000 videos and 20,000 images depicting child pornography on his iPhone and uploaded at least 94 files containing child pornography to his Gmail account. Stacy’s online activities were first identified by Google and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

Stacy was arrested by the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office on September 11, 2018 and the investigation is being conducted jointly with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).

HSI and the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office offer this advice to concerned community members:

Parents who have a child who may have come in contact with Stacy should let the child know that Stacy has been arrested for inappropriate behavior. Parents should tell the child that if Stacy did or said anything inappropriate to the child to let the parents know. If a child discloses an incident that did happen to him or her or that the child observed an inappropriate incident happen to someone else, the parent should not ask the child detailed questions about the incident. A criminal complaint is only an accusation of a crime, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
