Friday morning, Beaverton police officers responded to the 8500 block of SW Apple Way on a report of an adult male riding a bike while holding a large knife.

When officers arrived in the area, they observed a bicycle outside of the 7-11 store located at 9145 SW Beaverton Hillsdale Highway. As they approached the store, officers observed a male subject, who was later identified as the suspect, leaving the business. An employee of the store informed officers this individual had threatened the employee with the knife.

The individual then entered the Bottle Drop, located at 9307 SW Beaverton Hillsdale Highway, while continuing to hold the knife. Officers entered the business attempting to make contact with the individual. The subject pulled a knife from the clothing near the front of his chest, holding the knife in his right hand while facing the officers. He then exited a side door of the business. While outside of the business, officers continued to try to make contact with the individual with the contact ultimately resulting in an officer involved shooting.

Officers treated the subject’s wounds while on-scene and he was then transported to an area hospital for treatment.

The Washington County Major Crimes Team is responsible for the investigation.
