Vancouver City Council unanimously adopted a resolution in support of an Interstate 5 bridge replacement project.
The resolution urges Washington State Governor Jay Inslee and the Washington State Legislature to provide funding to the Washington State Department of Transportation to advance the bridge replacement project.
“This is an important first step in moving the I-5 bridge project forward,” said Vancouver Mayor Anne McEnerny-Ogle. “The replacement of the bridge will be critical to the continued economic growth of the bi-state region.”
The resolution emphasizes the City’s support of efforts to begin a new process for an Interstate 5 bridge replacement, consisting of a replacement bridge and high-capacity transit with a dedicated guideway. The resolution also emphasizes Vancouver City Council’s support of a multi-faceted approach to improve the entire region’s travel needs.
