Woman Attacked In Parking Garage

Police have arrested a man who allegedly assaulted a woman in a parking garage. 

The attack happened at 7:17 p.m. in the 800 block of Southwest 21st Avenue.

The female victim said she was attacked by a stranger.

Officers responding to the area received a suspect description and began searching the neighborhood while other officers located and contacted the 35-year-old female victim inside the parking garage.

Officers learned that the victim was walking to her car in the parking garage when the suspect approached her, made a few statements, then began physically attacking her. The victim screamed and physically fought back against her attacker. The suspect ran away and was taken into custody at Southwest 17th Avenue and Yamhill Street. The victim did not require any medical treatment at the scene and was able to speak to investigators.

The suspect, 23-year-old Joshua Michael Hayes, was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on several charges. 

Hayes is charged with Attempted Rape in the First Degree, Burglary in the First Degree (four counts), Robbery in the Third Degree, Coercion, Assault in the Fourth Degree, and Attempted Assault in the Fourth Degree.
