Allen Hamilton of Eugene, won the largest Keno 8-spot rolling jackpot in Oregon Lottery history. Hamilton bought his record-breaking ticket at Jaspers on Green Acres Road in Eugene.
The excitement grew at Lottery retailers around the state, as the rolling Keno 8-spot jackpot continued to balloon to an all-time record $129,299.80 prior to the April 3 drawing. The previous record was $99,698.45 in June 2016. When players play the Keno 8-Spot, if no one has selected all eight numbers drawn, the rolling jackpot continues to grow.
Hamilton also purchased a Special Keno ticket, which changes the prize structure and netted him an additional $25,000, for a total prize of $154,299.
Sales of Keno leading up to the record-breaking Keno 8-spot rolling jackpot were also strong. It was the highest week of Keno sales in Oregon Lottery history with $3.2 million in Keno sales reported. Thanks to these robust sales, more funding is able to go to Lottery beneficiaries such as economic development, parks, education, watershed enhancement, outdoor school and veteran’s services.
During the 2015-17 biennium in Lane County, where Hamilton lives, more than $50.8 million in Oregon Lottery proceeds were directed to economic development, parks, education and watershed enhancement.
Lottery officials recommend that you always sign the back of your tickets with each Oregon Lottery game you play, to ensure you can claim any prize you may win. In the event of winning a jackpot, players should consult with a trusted financial planner or similar professional to develop a plan for their winnings. Prize winners of more than $50,000 should contact the Lottery office to schedule an appointment to claim their prize.
