The Portland Fire Bureau called five alarms to get enough equipment to battle a fire in a NE Portland junkyard.
The fire is burning near NE 75th and Killingsworth.
There are no reports of injuries. The fire has damaged a duplex and an apartment building. The Fire Bureau says 16 cats were killed in the fire.
People in a one mile radius of the fire after being advised to keep windows and doors closed and to turn off heating and air conditioning systems.
Buildings near the fire are being evacuated, because of the hazardous smoke.
Students from Sacajawea Head Start were evacuated to Scott School where parents can pick them up.
The cause of the fire is not known.
