Witness Helps Police Catch Car Prowler

On Monday, February 26, 2018, at 12:00 p.m., Central Precinct officers responded to the report of a person trying to open car doors near the intersection of Northwest 24th Avenue and Northwest Wilson Street.

The caller to 9-1-1 provided the call taker with a detailed description of the suspect and the suspect's last known location. Officers canvassed the neighborhood and located a man that matched the suspect description provided by the caller.

Officers contacted the suspect and placed him into custody without incident. As officers inventoried the suspect they located a .22 caliber handgun in his coat pocket, a knife, methamphetamine and one and one-half pounds of marijuana (photograph included in press release).

The suspect was identified as 25-year-old Steven Jones. Jones was lodged at the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Possession of a Loaded Firearm, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Delivery of Marijuana with consideration.
