Winter Returning, Snow Possible Sunday

The National Weather Service is forecasting the coldest temperatures of the winter to move over the region next week.

It starts on Sunday after a front moves through. Snow levels are expected to drop below 1,000 feet.

While there's a possibility of snow the amounts are expected to be light on the Valley floor from a trace to an inch.

The bigger concern is black ice. The rain before the snow will cause roads to be wet and Sunday night temperatures will drop into the 20's.

Monday is President's Day, so most schools will be out and traffic will be lighter than normal.

Next week low temperatures will reach the coldest levels of the winter.

Lows in the teens will be possible in normally colder spots like Battle Ground, Hillsboro, Vernonia and Eugene.
