Search Ends For Man Swept Into Ocean

A 46-year-old man was swept into the ocean at Depot Bay on Thursday as massive waves hit the Oregon Coast.

Witnesses say the man climbed over the sea wall to get a closer look at a hole in the rocks where the waves create a geyser when he was hit by a large wave and swept into the ocean.

The Coast Guard searched the water by helicopter, but couldn't find the man.

Oregon State Police say the man lived in Newport, but was originally from Mexico.

The Mexican Consulate is notifying the man's relatives.
