The driver of a pickup was shot and killed by Washington County Sheriff's deputies Friday afternoon near Sherwood.
The Washington County Sheriff's Office says the incident started when 911 received a call about a suspicious pickup in a field near Roy Rogers Road and Scholls-Sherwood Road.
A Sherwood Police officer was fired upon by a man in the pickup.
The Washington County Sheriff's Office Tactical Negotiation Team responded.
The driver in the pickup drove further into the field. When the driver of the truck tried to drive away deputies in an armored vehicle rammed the pickup. The suspect continued to fire at deputies and a deputy in the armored vehicle returned fire and killed the man.
The suspect is identified as 54-year-old Remi Sabbe, of Tigard.
Investigators are trying to learn what prompted his actions.
