Shooting Injures Man In Portland's Old Town

A man was wounded in a shooting early Saturday morning near the Skidmore Fountain Transit Station.

Police were called to a shooting around 4:16 a.m. near the transit station.

Officers responded to the location and located one adult male with a gunshot wound. The officers immediately provided emergency first aid, including the application of tourniquets to the victim. The victim was transported to an area hospital by ambulance with what are believed to be serious non-life-threatening injuries. 

Additional officers contacted witnesses to the shooting. The witnesses provide officers with a description of the suspect. The suspect's description was provided to officers searching the surrounding area. As officers searched Waterfront Park, they located an adult male matching the witnesses' suspect description near Southwest Ash Street. The suspect was taken into custody without incident and a firearm was located and seized as evidence.
