The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for freezing rain, sleet and snow in Northwest Oregon and Southwest Washington.
Sleet and freezing rain have been falling on the northern Willamette Valley.
Cold air is being pumped into the Portland area through the Columbia River Gorge. The winds won't let up until tonight.
Temperatures will remain near freezing all day, especially east of the West Hills.
Temperatures will be slow to moderate tonight. Rain is forecast for most areas on Christmas Day.
