No Charges In Fatal Beaverton Crash

A woman who was walking her bike on Southwest 125th Avenue in Beaverton near Southridge High School Thursday night was hit and killed.

Witnesses say the woman was walking her bike in a bike lane and in the traffic lane. She was wearing dark clothing and holding an umbrella.

The 17-year-old driver told police he saw the woman in the bike lane, looked at a traffic signal and then felt the impact.

Police say the driver was not using a cell phone. They say there's no evidence the driver did anything that directly contributed to the crash.

The woman is identified as 63-year-old Helen Grochowski.
