Luring Suspect Might Have Additional Victims

On Wednesday November 8, 2017, officers with East Precinct's Sex Trafficking Unit arrested a 57-year-old man in connection with the online luring of a child.

Mark A. Chervin was arrested and booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Attempt Sodomy in the Third Degree, Online Sexual Corruption in the First Degree, Online Sexual Corruption in the Second Degree, Attempt Sexual Abuse in the Second Degree, and 20 counts of Luring a Minor.

This investigation began in early October when the Sex Trafficking Unit received a tip from the community regarding possible criminal activity perpetrated by Chervin. An undercover officer posing as an underage female on a social media account contacted Chervin. After the initial contact, Chervin repeatedly contacted the undercover officer in an attempt to build a sexual relationship with the officer who believed was an underage age female. Chervin expressed a desire to meet with her for purposes of a sexual nature.

Chervin designated a time and location in Southeast Portland to meet the juvenile female. When he arrived at the location the Portland Police Bureau's Sex Trafficking Unit took him into custody.

Investigators believe there may be additional victims. If you have information regarding Chervin or are a victim, please contact the Portland Police Bureau's Sex Trafficking Unit at 503-823-4867.
