Child Finds Blade In Halloween Candy

Washington County Sheriff's Office deputies were contacted by a concerned Beaverton mother who reported that a blade had been found in her child's Halloween candy.

After interviewing the woman, deputies learned she had taken her three children trick-or-treating in their neighborhood the evening prior. The family lives near Northwest Cornelius Pass Road and Northwest Quatama Road in Beaverton.

Later that evening, the woman's 13-year-old daughter came to her and said she had found a loose blade inside a packaged candy bar. The blade appeared to have possibly been from a pencil sharpener. It is unknown if the wrapper was completely sealed prior to the child opening it.

The Sheriff's Office reminds parents to be vigilant and educate their children about inspecting all Halloween candy.

There are no investigative leads at this time. Anyone with information is asked to call non-emergency dispatch at (503) 629-0111.
