A Multnomah County Grand Jury has indicted 22-year-old Avonte T. Armstead on one charge of murder in relation to the death of 22-year-old Irvin I. Batalla.
On Tuesday, July 7, 2015, Portland Police were called to a report of a deceased person at the base of a cliff at Rocky Butte.
Officers found Batalla’s body. The Oregon State Medical Examiner performed an autopsy and determined Batalla died of blunt force injuries.
Evidence from the investigation was presented to a Grandy Jury which returned a charge of murder against Armstead.
Armstead is being extradited from the Carson City Jail in Carson City, Nevada to the Multnomah County Jail.
