Gresham Police say 21-year-old Shalondre Adams is responsible for the death of his girlfriend’s 13-month-old son.
On Thursday around 10:00 a.m., police and medical personnel responded to the 400 block of SE 169 Ave. for the report of a 13-month-old boy who was unconscious and not breathing. Officers and paramedics attempted life-saving measures but were unsuccessful in reviving him. Detectives assigned to the Multnomah County Child Abuse Team responded to the scene to investigate the death.
On Friday, the Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office determined the boy died from traumatic brain injury and ruled the death a homicide. The East County Major Crimes Team was activated to assist with the homicide investigation.
Saturday police arrested the boyfriend of the boy's mother, Portland resident Shalondre Adams. Adams, 21, will be booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center, charged with one count of murder.
