Eagle Creek Fire Slowly Expands

The Eagle Creek Fire has now burned 33,382 acres. It's 5% contained.

928 firefighters are working to contain the fire.

Lt. Damon Simmons, with the Oregon Fire Marshal's Office, says three homes have been destroyed in the Dodson/Warrendale area. One of those homes was a permanent residence. They don't know if the other two homes were vacant or vacation homes.

The weather has allowed crews to make progress building lines around the fire.

Backburns on Wednesday near Cascade Locks were successful.

Crews are working to increase safety zones around houses.

ODOT crews and loggers are working to remove hazardous trees on I-84, so the freeway can re-open.

They are working to stop the fire from burning into the Bull Run watershed. They are not using any fire retardant in Bull Run or anywhere to battle the Eagle Creek Fire. They're only using water drops.
