Early Thursday morning, Central Precinct officers responded to the 600 block of Northwest MacLeay Road regarding a vandalized vehicle. Officers arrived in the area and contacted the victim of the vandalism. The victim's vehicle had a broken window. Officers investigated the incident and believed the broken window was caused by a pellet or BB gun. An area search for the suspect was performed, but a suspect was not located.
At 8:29 a.m., officers responded to the 2500 block of Northwest Westover Road on the report of an additional vehicle vandalism involving broken windows. Officers contacted the victim and while investigating this vandalism, officers located additional vehicles that had been vandalized overnight in the Hillside Neighborhood.
Officers have now taken reports of at least 20 vehicles that were vandalized overnight in the Hillside Neighborhood. During the investigation, officers located vehicles with broken windows or ones that had been vandalized with eggs. Officers believe the broken windows in the additional vandalism cases were also caused by projectiles from a BB gun or pellet gun.
Detectives with the Portland Police Bureau Detective Coordination Team (DCT) is investigating.
