Arrest Made In Sex Trafficking Of A Child

On Monday July 31, 2017, members of the Portland Police Bureau's Sex Trafficking Unit (STU), Beaverton Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Multnomah County Parole and Probation arrested a 21 year-old woman in connection with the trafficking of a minor.

Shanell N. Rix of Portland was arrested and booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Compelling Prostitution, Promoting Prostitution and Attempt Using Child in Display of Sexually Explicit Act.

The investigation started on Monday, when Beaverton Police received information that a minor, reported as a missing and endangered juvenile with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), was in the Portland area. Investigators learned the minor was a female and was being trafficked.

During their investigation, law enforcement learned the missing and endangered child was in an apartment complex located in the 8200 block of Northeast Sandy Boulevard. When officers contacted the juvenile, she was in the company of Rix.

Based on information learned during the investigation Rix was arrested at the apartment complex.

The juvenile was reported as a missing and endangered child out of another state and is currently being taken home.
