The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Watch that starts on Tuesday.
A ridge of high pressure will divert all storms away from the Pacific Northwest and the region is going to bake.
The highs on Tuesday through Friday will be at least 100 degrees.
On Thursday, in Portland, the high will approach 107 degrees which is the highest temperature ever recorded in the city.
The National Weather Service says people over 50, people without access to air conditioning and anyone engaged in prolonged outdoor activities will be be particularly vulnerable during this heat episode.
Local power demand is expected to be at high levels.
The excessive heat may create a dangerous situation in which heat related illnesses are likely. Now is a good time to make sure you have plenty of non-alcoholic beverages available. Make plans to stay out of the sunshine as much as possible.
Temperatures are expected to cool slightly by the weekend dipping into the lower 90's.
