Suspect Arrested After 5 Hour Search

Multnomah County Sheriff's deputies were called to an area near Southeast 5th and Kibling Street in Troutdale Friday at 11:50 p.m. on a report of a shooting.

Deputies arrived and found the victim who was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Deputies began searching for the suspect along with officers from Gresham and Fairview Police Departments, and eventually called in additional resources from the Portland Police Special Emergency Response Team. Sheriff Mike Reese was also on scene and assisted with this call for service. 

During a search of the area, which lasted five hours, a Sheriff's patrol deputy spotted the suspect near the corner of Columbia River Highway and 257th Ave. Deputies took the suspect into custody without further incident. 

The suspect has been identified as 44-year-old Jerod Sutton of Troutdale, Oregon. Sutton will be interviewed by detectives and lodged at the Multnomah County Detention Center. 

Detectives from the Major Crimes Team, which is comprised of members of the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office and the Gresham Police Department, are on scene and are continuing to investigate.
