Computer Problem Affects Tri-Met Service

TriMet MAX

Overnight computer maintenance at TriMet caused the company’s network to fail and that prevented buses and MAX trains from running at the start of service Saturday morning.

The outage also affected TriMet’s website, intranet and e-mail.

The buses are wirelessly connected to the computer network, and they weren’t able to start service.

MAX trains are also connected to the system. Without the computer network the trains couldn’t run.

The buses were the first to go into service as the system was restored.

MAX service returned to normal around 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

Shuttle buses ran for a time between Portland International Airport and the Gateway Transit Station until the trains were running.

TriMet is investigating what caused the problem.
