Portland's Adaptive Bike Program Launches

Portland's bike rental program, BIKETOWN, expanded Friday. Bicycles for those with disabilities are now available.

John Brady, Communications Director for the Portland Bureau of Transportation, says adaptive BIKETOWN is a major step towards fulfilling the founding vision of BIKETOWN to be a bike share system for all people.

The program kicked off with a ceremony at Kerr Bikes on southeast Water Avenue. The ceremony included City Commissioners Dan Saltzman and Chloe Eudaly, P-BOT Director, Leah Treat and Jeff Carr, the CEO of Albertina Kerr.

A bike ride followed the ceremony with a reception at the end. Brady says Kerr Bikes is their partner in the program, which is where you can rent adaptive bikes.
