Both spans of the Interstate Bridge will see intermittent night lifts lasting as long as 25 minutes on the night of Friday, July 14 while crews grease six miles of cable.
During lifts, the sidewalks will be closed to pedestrians and bicyclists.
The intermittent lifts will begin at 10 p.m. on Friday July 14 and continue through the night until 8 a.m. Saturday, July 15.
During the lifts, southbound travelers may take SR 14 east to Interstate 205 and the Glenn Jackson Bridge south to Oregon. Northbound travelers may take Interstate 84 east to I-205 north into Washington.
Crews will apply oil and grease to six miles of cable used in bridge lifts. The work takes place every summer as part of the annual bridge maintenance.
The Interstate Bridge is jointly owned by Oregon and Washington and is operated and maintained by ODOT. The northbound span opened in 1917 and the southbound span in 1958.
