On Friday July 7, 2017, at 12:41 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to the report of a burglary in progress at a home in the 9100 block of Southeast Clinton Street.
As officers were responding to the call, they were advised that the resident was hiding in the house but was remaining on the phone with 9-1-1 to provide updates.
Officers arrived in the area and established containment around the home. Shortly after police arrived, the suspect came outside and was taken into custody.
The suspect, 54-year-old Derek Lee Jones, was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Burglary in the First Degree, Theft in the First Degree, and Criminal Mischief in the First Degree.
