Poet’s Beach will be open July 12th through Labor Day, September 4th. The beach is a sandy shore with river access and a swimming area underneath the Marquam Bridge.

Mark Ross, Public Information Officer for Portland Parks & Recreation, says they’ll see who uses the temporary beach, how many people use it, if they need to make any improvements, and if they can bring it back or put it in a different spot.

Poet’s Beach will have picnic tables, restrooms, lifejackets available and lifeguards on hand 7 days a week.

It’s the first official public beach to open in downtown Portland.
