Cyclist Critically Hurt In Crash

On Tuesday July 4, 2017, at 10:41 p.m., North Precinct officers responded to Northeast Cully Boulevard and Killingsworth Street on the report of a traffic crash involving a bicycle rider and a driver.

Officers and medical personnel arrived and began treating the injured bicycle rider who was suffering from traumatic injuries. The bicycle rider has been transported to a Portland hospital for treatment to life-threatening injuries.

The driver, 34-year-old Ramon Benton, remained at the scene and has cooperated with investigators. The cyclist is identified as 51-year-old Alberto Canche-Mukel. He remains hospitalized with serious injuries.

The case will be turned over the Multnomah County District Attorney who will decide whether charges will be filed.
