Reckless Driver Injures Two In Crash

A driver who had been reported four times within an hour for driving recklessly is accused of running a red light and crashing.

It happened Wednesday at 12:57 p.m. at the intersection of NW West Union Road and NW Kaiser Road in the community of Bethany.

Based on witness statements, Washington County deputies learned that a 2000 Ford Focus, driven by 24-year-old Dakota Spacek, was driving eastbound on NW West Union Road at a high rate of speed when he failed to stop at a red light. A minivan driving southbound through a green light collided with the Ford Focus, causing it to rollover.

During the investigation, deputies learned that the Ford Focus had been called in as a reckless driver four times in the hour leading up to the crash. Local law enforcement agencies had been attempting to locate the vehicle when the crash occurred.

Two passengers in the Ford Focus sustained injuries and were transported to the hospital for evaluation. Spacek and the driver of the minivan were not injured.

Spacek was arrested and lodged at the Washington County Jail on one count of reckless driving and two counts of assault in the fourth degree.

Deputies are investigating the crash and the incidents that led up to it.
