A biennial safety inspection of Tilikum Crossing, Bridge of the People, will lead to alternate multi-use path closures this week. Tomorrow, Tuesday, June 13, through Friday, June 16, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. one of the two paths will be closed. The closures will allow the bridge inspection team to stage and safely use the necessary equipment to inspect the towers and cable system.
The multi-use paths will be closed intermittently just on the bridge itself. Users will be detoured to the open path via the marked crosswalks near the South Waterfront/SW Moody MAX Station on the west end or the OMSI/SE Water MAX Station on the east end of the bridge. Signs will be posted and enforcement may be present. For the safety of all users, cyclists are asked to walk their bikes and yield to pedestrians. MAX, Portland Streetcar and TriMet bus service across the bridge will not be affected.

Tuesday, June 13 & Wednesday, June 14:
The eastbound multi-use path (south side of bridge) will be closed.
Use the westbound multi-use path on the north side of the bridge.
Use marked crosswalks near the South Waterfront/SW Moody MAX Station on the west end or the OMSI/SE Water MAX Station on the east end of the bridge.
Thursday, June 15 & Friday, June 16:
The westbound multi-use path (north side of bridge) will be closed.
Use the eastbound multi-use path on the north side of the bridge.
Use marked crosswalks near the South Waterfront/SW Moody MAX Station on the west end or the OMSI/SE Water MAX Station on the east end of the bridge.
Path users are asked to follow all marked detours and posted instructions. If crews complete daily inspections early they will reopen the pathways prior to 6 p.m.
Tilikum Crossing and the adjacent Harbor structure will have safety inspections completed roughly every two years. This inspection marks the first official inspections since construction was completed. Learn more about Tilikum Crossing.
