One person was killed and two were hurt in a crash Sunday on I-84 eastbound near 238th Drive.
Investigators say that a 1996 Chevrolet pickup truck was travelling eastbound in the center lane of Interstate 84 when it came to a stop, along with several other vehicles, due to debris in the roadway.
The obstruction was cleared from the roadway and traffic began to move again. The Chevrolet pickup experienced a mechanical problem and was not able to move from where it had stopped. A 2012 Dodge Caravan struck the rear of the Chevrolet pickup at freeway speeds.
The passenger in the Chevrolet pickup, 60-year-old Glen Hampton, from Lyle, Washington, died at the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet pickup, 67-year-old Linda Hampton was transported to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
The driver of the Dodge Caravan, 75-year-old Jack Young, from Troutdale, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
