A Clark County Sheriff’s Deputy shot and killed an inmate at Peacehealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver Thursday morning.
The 66-year-old inmate was being held for U.S. Marsals on a probation violation. The Sheriff’s Office has not said why the inmate was at the hospital.
Two deputies were guarding the inmate when the shooting happened. The Sheriff’s Office has not said what caused one of the deputies to shoot the inmate.
He was immediately rushed into surgery, but died.
The deputy is on paid administrative leave which is protocol following a shooting.
The Clark County Major Crimes Team is being lead by the Vancouver Police Department in the investigation.
