The Portland Police Bureau is continuing to investigate the circumstances of a stabbing that left a 37-year-old man critically injured on Monday night.

Jacob Pedro Shroyer, a resident of Northwest Portland, remains in critical condition at a Portland hospital after being stabbed multiple times by an unknown suspect. The victim's injuries are life-threatening.

The investigation started on Monday May 8, 2017, at 10:25 p.m., when Central Precinct officers responded to the report of a person stabbed at the Pacific Tower Apartments, located at 333 Northwest 4th Avenue.

Officers and medical personnel arrived and located the victim, later identified as Shroyer, suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was transported by ambulance to a Portland hospital where he remains.

Based on information learned in the investigation, the suspect is a black male adult with a large build, armed with a knife. There is no information to suggest the victim and suspect knew each other and the attack appears to be completely random.

Anyone with information about this assault is asked to contact Detective Anthony Merrill at 503-823-4033, anthony.merrill@portlandoregon.gov; or, Detective Vince Cui at 503-823-0449, vince.cui@portlandoregon.gov.
