A Damascus resident was awakened by a loud crash Friday morning and found the attic of her house was on fire.
Crews from Clackamas, Sandy and Gresham fire departments responded and put out the fire in around 30 minutes.
Investigators believe the metal roof was struck by lightning at or near a roof vent igniting the fire.
The two people in the house safely evacuated.
Another lightning bolt caused a split down a large tree. (photo below)
