Demonstrators Clash On 82nd Avenue

Threats forced the “82nd Avenue of Roses” parade on Saturday to be canceled, but marches were held in place of the parade.

Parade organizers were threatened over the Multnomah County Republicans who were signed up to be one of the participants in the parade. They had marched in previous parades.

Supporters of the Multnomah County Republicans held a march on 82nd Avenue. Participants said they would not be stopped by threats.

Opponents held a counter-demonstration.

Portland Police attempted to keep both groups separated.

Three people were taken into custody.

After the parade, TriMet shuttle buses took participants back to where the parade started.
