Southbound Interstate 5 will be closed on four consecutive nights in the Rose Quarter starting Monday May 1 while workers make repairs to the Elliot Street Bridge that spans the freeway.
The work is separate from the full weekend closure of the I-5 northbound lanes, which will begin at 10 p.m. Friday May 5 and continue until 4:30 a.m. Monday May 8 and again during the same weekend times May 12-15. The closure, which will be between the Marquam Bridge and North Broadway, is for maintenance work on the Burnside Bridge.
The southbound night closures will take place between Interstate 405 and the Wheeler on-ramp from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. starting Monday May 1 and again on Tuesday May 2, Wednesday May 3 and Thursday May 4. All work is scheduled for completion by 5 a.m. Friday May 5.
The North Greeley on-ramp to southbound I-5 will be closed during the weeknight closures.
During the southbound closure, travelers will use I-405 southbound over the Fremont Bridge and reconnect with I-5. Travelers heading to Interstate 84 should take I-405 southbound to I-5 northbound to I-84 eastbound.
