The garage door of a Beaverton home was blown off Monday night in an explosion.
The home is located on Bonnie Brae Street.
37-year-old Zachary Silva-Barrett was in the garage when the explosion happened. He told police he was lighting a natural gas water heater when the explosion happened.
Police say that's not the case. They found 13 butane canisters and 120 pounds of marijuana and that Silva-Barrett was allegedly making Honey Butane Hash Oil.
The butane is used to extract a concentrate of THC from the marijuana.
Silva-Barrett was treated and released from a hospital and then arrested for unlawful manufacturing, arson incident to manufacture. That's a new law written for this type of explosion.
Silva-Barrett will also be charged with eight counts of reckless endangering since there was an adult female and seven children in the house.
