Portland Police have made an arrest in connection with a homicide at the Motel 6 on Powell Boulevard at 31st Avenue.
The incident began Friday when officers saw a suspicious vehicle leave the parking lot of the motel. They pursued the vehicle, but broke off the pursuit in a neighborhood.
Officers returned to the motel and found a person's body.
The suspicious vehicle was later found near southeast 52nd and Francis Street. Police searched the area and found 31-year-old Joshua Carlson hiding on the roof of a house.
He has been arrested in connection with the homicide.
The victim is identified as 42-year-old Valerie Johnson of Portland. The medical examiner says she died from strangulation.
Carlson is being held on charges of Murder and Unlawful use of a Motor Vehicle.
