Murder Victim Identified

Portland Police say 38-year-old Larry Van Dolah Jr., from St. Helens, was killed Saturday afternoon near Menlo Park Elementary School.

They were called to the school Saturday around 12:40 p.m. on a report of shots fired.

Witnesses saw three black men running from the field at the school where Dolah was found.

The medical examiner says he was shot several times.

Preliminary information indicates that the suspects are three black males, ages 16 to 20 years old, all wearing hooded sweatshirts and blue jeans. They were last seen running southbound on 128th Avenue, crossing East Burnside Street.

East Precinct officers stopped two vehicles on Southeast 122nd Avenue, near Stark Street, but determined that the drivers and occupants were not related to the shooting.

At this point in the investigation, it is not known what led to the shooting or if the victim and suspects knew each other.

No arrests have been made.
